Hydrating is crucial because water is what regulates your body temperature. It also lubricates your joints and transports nutrients to your body’s cells, which helps keep you healthy and feeling energized. Also, the transport of nutrients is required for you to build muscle, which is why if you don’t hydrate , you will experience things such as fatigue, dizziness/lightheadedness, muscle cramps and more! If you are someone that suffers from charlie horses or muscle spasms, you may already know this, but the cause is often dehydration. This is because as your body becomes dehydrated, your muscles become deprived of electrolytes and as a result, begin to cramp up. To keep yourself energized, healthy and feeling fit, make sure you drink plenty of fluids so that your body stays hydrated!

Dehydration has a negative impact on your brain because when you are dehydrated, your circulation will slow. When circulation decreases, so does the amount of oxygen traveling to various parts of your body including your brain. The worse your dehydration gets, the more your cognitive functioning will decline. In fact, when dehydration is severe, it can lead to delirium or loss of consciousness. Although mild dehydration is less severe, it also negatively impacts the way your brain functions and processes information. It can also negatively affect mood. In fact, all it takes for the negative consequences to creep in is to have a level of hydration that is only one percent lower than what is optimal.
